About Montreux Jazz Festival
The Montreux Jazz Festival takes place every summer for two weeks in Switzerland, along the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva. Over the years, it has evolved into an essential event, generating unforgettable stories and legendary performances. Nearly 250,000 spectators attend annually, enjoying the stunning setting, renowned acoustics, and numerous free stages.
With its ambitious programming, musical diversity, and warm hospitality, the Montreux Jazz Festival offers a unique experience for both musicians and the public. In Montreux, artists connect closely with their fans, creating deeply memorable and often legendary moments. The music experience is truly unique, enhanced by exceptional comfort and acoustics.
Montreux has hosted some truly legendary performances by famous artists such as: Aretha Franklin, Prince, David Bowie, Elton John and Stevie Wonder. While jazz and blues are at the heart of the event, other styles of music quickly found their place at the festival. The festival has also always been a forward-thinking organization. Carefully recording all its concerts, more than 11,000 hours of audiovisual archives are registered in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.
The Festival also features pool parties, silent discos, open-air concerts, jam sessions, workshops, and all-night electro events. Each year, the Festival offers 250 free concerts, DJ sets, and activities, running from noon to 5 am!
