Burning Man is not just a festival. It’s a unique cultural phenomenon and a temporary city that springs to life in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Guided by ten practical principles, Burning Man fosters an inclusive environment where everyone actively participates in the experience.

For 2026, Burning Man has unveiled its official theme: “Axis Mundi.” The concept draws inspiration from the idea of a cosmic tree that links us all. It connects people across time, cultures and experiences. It also reminds us of our relationship with the natural world. Ultimately, the theme celebrates our interconnectedness and shows that we are part of something larger than ourselves.

Unlike traditional festivals, Burning Man has no booked acts or corporate sponsorships. Instead, it’s a “decommodified” space where participants bring their own art, performances and ideas to share with the community. Here, what you experience is entirely up to you.

In recent years, Burning Man Project has evolved into a global cultural movement, with participants and regional events taking place in more than 35 countries around the world, all inspired by the same creative and community-driven principles. However, the flagship experience remains Black Rock City, which continues to be the heart of the movement and the place where the iconic rituals, sculptures and ethos are celebrated most fully.
